Blake
Bowden / 34 / Wyoming
Clinical psychologist, playwright
Hometown:
Wooster, Ohio
During his residency in Boston, Blake was assigned to a terminally
ill 18-year-old. Bowden began reading him Tolkien's Lord of
the Rings trilogy, and found that the mythology reached the
teen in a way no other form of therapy could. Since then, Blake
has combined storytelling and drama with his work with children
through the HeadStart program, and is working with a new professional
theater company, Clear Stage Cincinnati. "There are two different
worlds in this city, the rich and the poor," he says. "Theater
is something that can bridge that gap."
